A year with many contrasts

After a beautiful spring, the vine started its cycle with the best conditions: the vegetation started in advance, late spring frost-free. Is that an auspicious sign?

Then, flowering took place in the rain, reminding us that nature always keeps control. This caused a phenomenon known as coulure, which is characterized by the failure of flowers to be fertilized. This results in the flowers falling off and reduces the number of future clusters. 

After the blossoming, the beginning of summer was very hot and dry. Therefore, the growth of vines and grapes was held back. The saving rains in July gave a breath of freshness to the vines. After the heat wave in August, the rains at the end of the month permitted, in one hand, a boost in the ripeness, and in another hand, limiting the alcoholic degrees.

For this crop, the grape skin was very thin. The challenge was not to explode or drop the grape berries while waiting for the perfect ripeness for picking.

For a vintage full of promises

When the time for harvest came, the grape offered a very fragrant flavor. The juice was very sweet with low acidity. We started to pick the grapes on September 4th in a Sauvignon Blanc plot located on top of Ménétreol village. The harvest ended on September 11th in the “Cul de Loup” plot located in Thauvenay village. 

As a conclusion, the wine promises to be concentrated with ripe notes. The 2025 wines, even if the year was very challenging with a dry summer and low yield, are expected to be excellent.

The 2025 vintage, a vintage where patience and precision made all the difference. Patience will also be important before trying this fantastic vintage. Actually, time is working in the aging cellar.
