New: waxed bottles!

Our wine bottles are now waxed! No more aluminum caps! We’ve made this choice to go even further in our quest for perfection, quality and environmental responsibility. We explain this evolution and its advantages in 6 points:

1- Made in France supply

Reducing our carbon footprint means working with partners close to home! Indeed, our waxing machine was custom-made in Burgundy by a young company created in 2017 in Meursault. We invite you to discover the creation of our automated waxing machine through the Grand Entretien.

As for the wax used, it’s made in Nantes.

2- Wax: a natural material

Wax is made from 75% natural ingredients. This innovation was born of an ecological conviction: to reduce the carbon impact of packaging and improve recycling (and replace aluminum).

3- Slow oxygenation for better ageing

Waxing bottles is of real oenological interest: wax is more sealed than aluminum capsules. Oxygenation is therefore slower, preserving the fresh, fruity aromas of Sancerre for longer.

It’s also in line with our biocontrol work, which contributes to using as few sulfites as possible. So, the risk of oxidation is better controlled.

4 – Wax over-corking: an aesthetic choice

“You taste first with your eyes”, so packaging must reflect our wines. A waxed bottle is chic and refined! As this photo illustrates, wax gives a retro yet trendy look. You’re sure to make a splash when you bring our waxed bottles to your friends and family!

5 – Waxed bottles = no more caps to cut

“Do you cut the aluminum cap underneath or on top of the bottle ring?” Let’s put an end to the debate! Wax doesn’t need cutting. With a flick of the wrist, the bottle is ready to enjoy! Just stick the corkscrew directly into the wax and then, gently extract the cork as usual. To avoid small pieces of wax falling into the bottle, you can clean the neck before extracting the cork.

6 – The wax seal: no counterfeiting

The waxed bottle is even better sealed! It cannot be counterfeited. It’s important for us to guarantee that our wines have received the utmost care, and in this way, share our finest terroirs with you.

So, will you dare to uncork our waxed bottles? Take up the challenge now by ordering yours from our boutique, or visit us at the estate!
